Timeline of Shivaji Maharaj (Shivaji Maharaj History)

19 Feb 1630: Shivaji Maharaj born on Shivneri Fort near Pune and his mother Jijabai named him Shivaji in honour of the goddess Shivai, deity of the fort. (Shivaji Maharaj’s birth date has been a matter of controversy but recently a consensus has been reached and is deemed to be 19 February 1627 Other suggested dates include 6 April 1627).

1640: Shivaji got married to Saibai Nimbalkar. She was Mudhojirao Naik Nimbalkar’s second daughter and sister of Bajaji Rao Naik Nimbalkar of Phaltan. Saibai was Shivaji’s first and most favourite wife.

1646: Shivaji & his friends from Maval took oath of independence in the temple of Rohideshwar. At a young age of 16 he conquered the forts of Torna. Torna fort is the first fort that Shivaji captured.

1648: Conquered Fort kondhana near Pune

1648: Fort Purandar conquered by Shivaji & Raghunath Ballal

15 Jan 1656: Shivaji captured Javli from Chandrarao More

06 Apr 1656: Shivaji captured Raigad

14 May 1657: Birth of Sambhaji Maharaj (Saibai and shivaji’s eldest son)
