Baneshwar is around 40 Km to the south of Pune. It is famous for old shiva mandir (temple) and natural beauty around temple. This temple was was built by Bajirao Peshwa-1. The temple is situated in dark woods – known as Ban (or Jungle) – and hence it is called as ‘Baneshwar’.
Here you can see five Shivlingas, idols of Lord Vishnu, Goddess Laxmi and Lord Mahadev. Behind the temple there is a garden and a small stream which adds to the beauty of the nature. We can say Baneshwar is one of the best religious place and picnic spot near Pune for one day trip.
